Welcome! A little about me:
The story of my love of music has always been a story of influences. Firstly my dad has always loved to sing, and it was listening to his low bass voice that I think first made me interested in singing and in music in general. At that time I was still in elementary school when we would have two classes a week of music, and I looked forward to those hour long blocks the most. My teacher, Mrs. Ridder was another influence on me as she was the person who really set me and all her students up with a very strong foundation in music. Under her teachings I was able to perform in front of an audience for the first time.
My next influence came from a man that played saxophone in the church. I went to a church in Bloomington Indiana, Home to the IU Jacobs School Of Music and that man was no ordinary man, he was and still is the professor of saxophone at IU, and Listening to Dr. Murphy play his saxophone at church on the occasional Sundays was what really sparked my passion and kick started my drive to become a musician.
Middle School was the next chapter of my life and the next great influence I had come in the form of my middle School band director. It was his fun loving always happy, but still hard working attitude that made me want what he had, a job that was always fun. Moving along to high school I finally started to get the picture that music was becoming more than just something I enjoyed, but something I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I started taking lessons from The Otis Murphy’s G.A. at the time, Danah Booher, was another great influence in my musical career as he always challenged me to be a little better than I was yesterday. My band directors Through high school also inspired me, providing me with so many great opportunities for me to play my instrument and enjoy and develop my love for music further. Finally my senior year after the last marching band competition I knew that if I was done with band and done making music, my life would be miserable and to avoid that I decided then and there that I wanted to become a teacher and continue to do the thing I loved most in life.
